Even now, I miss the Indigo Sea…

Ψ

I put this short film together on YouTube with video from the sailing adventure I shot on a GoPro and a Cannon HD CMOS.  All was shot in HD.  I actually have over a Terabyte of footage and will upload more in the future to YouTube.  Not being a computer or website guru, I just realized yesterday how to embed this video on this website…yeah…I know…😉  Laughing at my Self right now.

And by the way, holding a camera with one hand, steering the boat with the other while hauling booty in 20-30 knot winds was a challenge in and of itself…check out the angle of the boat in some of the shots, my port side (left side) rail was actually buried in water sometimes.  I cannot WAIT to get back out there…

“This Leg of the Journey tracks the voyage back from Bermuda to Wilmington, NC. While I was in Bermuda waiting on what seemed to be an impossible weather window, I decided to sail towards the Bahamas and then inch my way back up the coast of the US to North Carolina. On the third day at sea while in route to the Bahamas, I received a Satellite message from the people back in Wilmington, that if I turned toward the US coastline right then, I could make it to at least Georgia or South Carolina before the next frontal system came through…maybe even Wilmington. So, I turned my vessel towards the Northeast and hauled ass back to the states not knowing exactly where I may end up. I actually aimed for Charleston, SC for the first few days. As I drew closer to the US Coastline, I got messages from the people in Wilmington to head that way…so I did. The whole crossing took 9 days. I was alone on my 30 foot sailboat and as I write this now, my hands are still tired from steering. I arrived back here at Masonboro Yacht Club yesterday morning…sailing through Masonboro Inlet as the sun was rising. I am glad to be home and on shore again…playing with my dog and eating good food, but for a moment as I was sailing in through the Inlet, I was sad that the adventure of the past 9 days was over.”
