When local filmmaker/sailor Greg Frucci sets out on a solo journey from Wilmington to Portugal in May, in addition to creating a documentary called “Changing Course,” he’ll also battle wind and sea. And he’ll need all the help he can get to survive what Mother Nature dishes out.

Frucci’s hoping some of that help will come from equipment purchased with money from his “Five for ‘Changing Course’ ” fundraiser to be held 9 p.m. – 2 a.m. April 2 at TreBenzio’s.

The cover charge is $5 and a silent auction will be held to sell items including Frucci’s artwork. You can check out his pieces here.

Ninety percent of funds raised will go toward the upfit of Frucci’s sailboat, ”Cuddy,” to make the voyage a safe one.  The remaining 10 percent will be donated to two local charities, Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC: Wilmington Branch and Adopt-An-Angel.

For more info, check out the documentary, “Changing Course,” website.

Please come on out if you can…you will help us out, have a great time and help out some humans and animals in need.
